Some days, it feels like gravity gets stronger.

Your body feels heavy, your chest tight, your mind… loud. You’re doing your best, but everything feels too much.

When life gets that way, I don’t try to “push through.”I come back to my mat – not to stretch or sweat, but to feel my feet on the ground and remind my nervous system that I’m still here.

This is the grounding yoga flow I use whenever life feels too heavy – it’s slow, safe, and designed to bring you back to yourself.

Step-by-Step: The 10-Minute Grounding Flow

🕐 Duration: 10 minutes💡 Goal: Calm the nervous system, release emotional tension, and restore a sense of safety and presence.🪷 Tools: Yoga mat, pillow, or blanket (optional).

1. Seated Centering (1 minute)

  • Sit tall, hands resting on thighs.
  • Inhale slowly through your nose, exhale with a sigh.
  • Feel your sit bones grounding down.

This simple act tells your body: I am supported.

2. Cat-Cow (2 minutes)

  • Come to hands and knees.
  • Inhale, arch your spine and lift your chest (Cow).
  • Exhale, round your back and tuck your chin (Cat).

Moves energy through the spine and releases built-up emotional tension.

3. Child’s Pose (2 minutes)

  • Knees wide, big toes together, forehead on the mat.
  • Rest arms forward or alongside your body.

Soothes the nervous system – the ultimate surrender pose.

4. Low Lunge With Support (2 minutes)

  • Step one foot forward, back knee on the mat.
  • Inhale, lift your chest slightly; exhale, sink into the hips.

Releases the tension that stress stores in your hips – your body’s “emotional junk drawer.”

5. Reclined Butterfly (3 minutes)

  • Lie on your back, soles of feet together, knees open.
  • Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly.
  • Breathe gently, feeling your body rise and fall.

Encourages openness, vulnerability, and deep grounding.

Before & After Transformation

Before:

  • Emotionally drained and disconnected.
  • Shoulders tense, breathing shallow.
  • Feeling untethered, anxious, or numb.

After:

  • Body grounded, heart soft, breath steady.
  • Mind clear and calm.
  • Reconnected to yourself – physically and emotionally.

Table Comparison

Aspect Before (Overwhelmed) After (Grounded)
Breath Shallow, rushed Deep, slow
Body Feel Tight, tense Soft, supported
Emotions Scattered, reactive Steady, calm
Mindset “I can’t handle this.” “I can breathe through this.”
Connection Disconnected from body Present, embodied

Closing Story (Encouragement)

The first time I did this flow, I didn’t cry because I was sad – I cried because I finally stopped holding everything in.

You don’t have to “fix” the heaviness. You just have to give it space to breathe, and your body will do the rest.

Yoga doesn’t change what’s happening around you – it changes how safe you feel inside it.
